The remarkable career of American actress Eve Arden (1908-1990) is thoroughly chronicled from her earliest stage work in 1926 (under her given name Eunice Quedens) to her final television role in a 1987 episode of Falcon Crest. Included are detailed descriptions and critical commentaries of the actress's 62 feature film appearances between 1929 and 1982, notably her Oscar-nominated performance as Joan Crawford's sardonic confidante in 1945's Mildred Pierce. Complete coverage is provided of Eve Arden's work in the popular radio and television series Our Miss Brooks, and her later costarring stint with Kaye Ballard in the two-season TV sitcom The Mothers-in-Law. Also listed are her many other radio and television appearances, as well as her theatrical roles in such Broadway productions as Ziegfeld Follies of 1936 and Let's Face It.

A great look into the life of the great Eve Arden whom, in my opinion never got a enough film time, or maybe I just wished she had. Well written and informative!!!

Eve Arden was one of a kind. An extraordinary actor, her unique presence provided a bright spot in many television shows and films.

David C. Tucker has done it again. Tucker, an outstanding Hollywood researcher/writer, has dug deep to provide an in-depth chronicle of all of Arden's film, television, and Broadway performances. Film entries include cast and crew, synopsis, background, and reviews. In addition to information on her guest television appearances, there are detailed guides to Our Miss Brooks, The Eve Arden Show, and The Mothers-in-Law.

Numerous illustrations show Arden at work and in her personal life. The book is lively, entertaining, and fun to read. Tucker's dry sense of humor will have you laughing out loud.

Eve Arden fans (which is everyone, isn't it?) will love this book, her only career guide.

Whether you know her from TV as Our Miss Brooks or one of The Mothers-in-Law, or movies ranging from Stage Door (where she wore a cat around her neck) to Grease (as the principal who told us all, "If you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter"), chances are you know and adore Eve Arden as an actress. Here David C. Tucker does another stellar job of capturing the career and life story of a woman deserving of this excellent biography. He gives expert, opinionated commentary on her movies, provides interesting information about her TV work, and even covers the debacle of her involvement in The Moose Murders, the notorious Broadway bomb in the early 1980s. It's a book that is as fun and entertaining as watching Eve perform. Highly recommended.
