Catholics around the world rely on the Catholic saints for guidance and inspiration . . . so it's important that the saints and their stories be easy to find. Voices of the Saints by Bert Ghezzi provides readers with many convenient ways to look up 365 Catholic saints: chronologically, alphabetically, by feast day, even by theme. The saint's patronage is also listed when available, as is the date of beatification or canonization.

While the reference possibilities are abundant, the inspiring stories of these saints are still the primary focus of the book, and each entry is written in such a way as to help us feel the companionship of the saint. The voice of each saint comes through clearly in quotations drawn from their own writings, the recollection of witnesses, and the careful work of biographers.

Nice book but I was expecting some inspirational quotes for each day along with a short history of each Saint. The reading is not simple and I stumble while reading it aloud at the breakfast table before our meal. We will get through the whole book but next year will be looking for a book with encouraging, faithful quotes to get our day off to a good start.

"Voices of the Saints" is fascinating reading, Catholic or not. I refer to this book several times a week, I often read it at bedtime. I read from it to my fellow bible study gals. There have been several 'coincidences' such as the reading had extra significance for me that day, or the feast day of that said saint was that day.... (definition of coincidence? - God preferring to remain anonymous) I really appreciate the arrangement of this book as it starts with the first saints and progresses to the most recent, it helps me better grasp where the saint fits into the big picture of history. We can do well to model these holy people. Just one question - who is the lady dressed in green on the front cover second from left?

Interesting and only a page or two for each saint - not too much to read.

I sent this book to my fiancee who is in the hospital recovering from a near fatal motorcycle accident on September 4th. He was watching EWTN and saw Bert Ghezzi and this book and said he really wanted this book. He did not used to be a very God fearing man but since his accident a lot of his spirituality and Godliness has changed and he has a totally different outlook on life and God. I had this book sent to him as inspiration for him to keep on progressing as he is so that he can get out of the hospital and we can be married - October 27, 2011 is our day that we have set. Thank you for having this book. It is and will continue to be a part of our lives until our last dying breath.

I like the fact that the saints are cross referenced with other saints.

This is a 365 day journey of which I have not reached the end. I'm thinking the first 30 days energized me to continue through the next 335..
I am loving this book.
